Q: Where can I get a great tint job for my car in San Antonio, Tx, for a cheap price?
Where can I get a quality tint job for my car in San Antonio, Tx, for “not a lot” of money?
Naturally, I want to get something that will last, and not turn purple since I plan on keeping my car untill It no longer works! But I need a good, low price. Where should I go? What should I look for, and what (or who) should I avoid?

A: OK, for starters, stay away from what are known as “dyed” films! Although these are cheap, they don’t last because the dyes within this kind of tint, fades out over time. The UV rays of the sun cause the “colored dyes” within these films to fade into an unattractive purple color just like you mentioned, so dyed films are a big no-no if you want your tint job to last (dyed films have about a 2 or 3 yr lifespan before the bubbling and color change starts)! Secondly, make sure you get what is known as a “metalized” or “metal sputtered” film! Metal tint jobs not only keep out upwards of 60% of the sun’s UV rays and heat vs. 30% for dyed films, but they last much much longer. The metal fibers that are embedded in the plastic film aren’t altered by the sun’s UV rays like the dyes, and so this type of film will last and last (upwards of 10 years or more)! Since most people don’t keep the same car for more than about 5 years, a 10 year lifespan is more than most folks need! Whatever you do, please don’t go to the tint place named after your momma! Their work is good, but the prices are outragous! A cheap, dyed tint with a 3 yr warranty on a 2 door car costs $120, and a better metal film with a lifetime warranty costs $200 (I was just quoted these prices by one of their stores, call them up and see for yourself)! They even quoted me $400 for what they call a “ceramic” tint job! Sure the idea of a ceramic film is neat, but it doesn’t really keep out much more heat than metal film does, and the warranty isn’t any better (how can you improve on a lifetime warranty anyway)! No sir, that’s way to much to pay if you ask me, but then again they DO have to pay for all of those TV and radio ads, don’t they? Try calling my friends over at MOFO’s Vehicle Accessories. The owners have over 30 years of experience combined in the car and truck accessories business! They also have any and everything you could ever want for a car or truck including window tint! Their tinter has been been tinting for over 16 years AND they only charge $100 for a metal tint with a lifetime warranty
(instead of $200 like “mamma’s” does)! You can call them at (210)400-0240 or email them at mofosaccessories@yahoo.com . They tinted my car and left it looking perfect! Good luck to you! I hope I helped!

Q: where to buy cheap car parts in san antonio?

A: Where I come from there is only one way to get cheap parts and that is to look for a large 2nd hand car parts dealer where you go in with your tools and pull the parts off yourself. You can save up to upto 50% on 2nd hand parts that way.

Q: I am new in town (San Antonio Texas) and i want to know of a tranmission shop that will fix my car for cheap?
I have taken my car to two shops that was very expensive. I am on a tight budit and cant really afford to get my car fixed. Can someone in San Antonio on the northwest side tell me of a good shop to take my car.

A: That’s going to be a problem, isn’t it?

It’s a ton of work to get a transmission out of most vehicles.

Do not insult auto techs by thinking you can short them out on their work.

Q: Has anyone bought a car from the San Antonio Police Auction?
I need a second car and they say it is cheap buying cars from the auction. Is it worth buying one from there? Are they in working condition? Are there any other fees other than the price of the car?

A: It’s worth buying a car from an auction. Most of them are in working condition. But you should bring a mechanic with you to give it a through inspection because they are sold in as-is condition. They add fees on top of you bid like auction fees, taxes and registration.

Q: ship my car from San Antonio, TX to New Jersey?
I want to ship a car from San Antonio, TX to New Jersey. Did anyone know any cheap and reliable company? What’s the process? Thanks a lot.

Q: Where can I get a used or new car with bad credit in San Antonio?
I am either looking for a used car that is only a few years old with less than 100,000 miles or maybe a cheap new car. I have no repos or bankruptcies on my record; but I have a low credit score. I’ve paid off a car before; but it’s an older, high mileage car. I make over $1500 a month which I know most dealerships require. I am not interested in DriveTime or any other rip-off companies.

A: even if you have bad credit, you can still get an auto loan… there are companies that offer this, it’s not as hard as it seems to be, you can find a new or used auto loan, something that fits your budget, you can even negotiate the price of the car of your choice…

Q: Does anyone know any car rental places in San Antonio that will rent to a 19 year old?
I’m 19 (almost 20) and I’m going to the Lackland area to visit my boyfriend in tech school. He might be in Camp Bullis, which is about 30 miles from base, and if he is there, I would need transportation to go see him. If anyone knows of any car rental places or cheap shuttles that could help me out, that would be great. Thanks.

A: There are several smaller agencies that will rent to anyone over 18. These include EZ rent a car and Rent a wreck. Unfortunately they do not have branches in San Antonio. Your best bet is to look for small independent agencies.

Q: Because,of gasoline being so high what other cheap fuel can we use on our cars or trucks?
In San Antonio, the cost of gas is $3.05 a gallon and most people can not afford to be able to drive their vehicles.

A: If you are looking for cheap fuel, I know a lot of things that perhaps this space wont be enough, nonetheless, let me discuss the cheapest. In the Philippines, there is a technology already although not yet expose to the market, wherein the fuel is Water, I mean, plain Water. The system is that there is a gadget that will be attached, just attached to your vehicle machine, now this gadget called Separator will separate the two components of Water, the Hydrogen and Oxygen. The vehicle then would utilize the Hydrogen as fuel. See, so even a Tap Water will do as a fuel. Even the Water used for washing dishes or clothes will likewise do. You see how cheap it is. Not only that, demonstration reveals that vehicles run by this Water – Fuel emit no smoke or other pollutants that harms and eventually destroy our Environment. That is hitting two birds at a single stone.

Q: Moving from Morgantown, WV to San Antonio, TX?
OK, so I have a lease in Morgantown, WV that’s going to be up at the end of May 2011, and I’ve decided several months ago I want to move to San Antonio, TX… I was down there several months ago on vacation and really liked it. Plus, when I compared the Cost of Living, several sites had San Antonio cheaper than Morgantown (I couldn’t believe it!)

Anyway, the only possessions I have worth taking are my laptop, iPhone, clothes and linens, a box of DVDs, a small box of books, an air mattress (which I have a feeling will come in handy at first), a TV, DVD player, PS2, and a few other small (yet sentimental) possessions. Everything is going into my car (an 01 4 dr Saturn SL1)

My questions are…

How soon should I look for an apartment/job? I was thinking 6 months in advance, start apartment hunting by making phone calls and taking a week off to go down there and check them out… and about 1-3 months in advance of job hunting. I don’t mind working odd jobs at first.

How much should I save? Since I am “traveling light”, I plan on saving anywhere from $3K-$5K (target $4K) to move… you know, in case I can’t find a job when I first get there (what an economy! woo!)

Any/all advice you all can provide me would be MUCH MUCH appreciated. I will be glad to clarify/follow-up as needed.

A: San Antonio is a place where salary’s can be low, I suggested to look for job first or save a lot before you move in, In which area you like to live? are you urban or suburban? I recommend to look in the local newspaper before you move to the Texan heat.
