Q: Advice on how to start selling used cars in Houston Texas.?
I am new to this area and i have been thinking of starting a used car business.Even before i came here i had the idea in mine,i just don’t know the process i know i need a license but where do i get it.
And where are the used car dealer auctions held in this area i really need some one who is in the business and who share this information with me.
Any advice would be appreciated.

A: Business License comes from the city where your lot will be. You may be able to lease the lot, but, check the zoning! The city and other government agencies may have used cars to sell at incredibly good prices. See the links. Good Luck

In Texas the minimum requirements for liability are 25/50/25. This insurance will cost you about $25 a month.

A: As long as the light is not visible to other vehicles. If you have them on the floor or something… that should be fine however if they are illuminating your face or the interior, you can be cited. Texas state law states that only white or amber light can emit from the front of your vehicle. Only red, white or amber from the rear. It doesn’t really cover what can emit from the sides however if it can be seen from the sides, it can probably be seen from the rear. I have done the whole neon thing man and really, it was more hassle than it was worth. I got pulled over three times, then they kept breaking. They caused me more grief than pleasure. Save your money for a down payment on your next car.

A: As long as she has insurance there should be no problem. A driver’s license is not required, only proof of insurance.

Q: Purchased a used car from a dealer in Houston, any recourse?
I just purchased a used car from a dealer in Houston, TX. No warranty but paid $5K for it and have had to put another 5K in repairs in the first month. Any recourse I can take? They do most of the advertising on Craigslist. Can I fight back there? I don’t want to end up getting a lawsuit slapped my me either.

I have filed a complaint with the Houston BBB but don’t think they will be able to help.

I think if they pay for half the repairs I would be happy. I don’t want anyone else to go through this.

The car was wired to bypass the warning lights. Got that fixed and it went down hill from there.

I have checked the Texas Lemon laws and can’t find anything there. Surely there is a lawyer out there that would take the case…

Any help is greatly appreciated.

A: Unless the title says “salvage” you did not buy a salvage car. You bought a piece of junk, but not salvage. Any recourse? No, you bought a used car and used cars are always AS-IS unless you have a written warranty. In the future always take the car to a mechanic before you buy.
